FC Barcelona is no stranger to iconic kits. In fact, the nickname Blaugrana itself has been derived from the blue and garnet colors used in their traditional home jerseys. Nike, the club’s current kit provider, has always provided some incredible-looking away kits, and as per the latest reports, it has impressed yet again. The reports have generated quite a bit of excitement among fans as the club is set to return to an away kit that proved to be a massive hit in an otherwise ordinary season.
Nike has been designing Barcelona kits for over 25 years. But recently, there have been reports of a rift forming between them. Although their deal will expire only in 2028, Barcelona can choose to sever ties earlier, which could be as soon as the 2025/26 season. If that does happen, at least Nike is set to go out with a bang because if the leaked away kit for 2024/25 is anything to go by, it’s a thing of beauty for most fans.

The 2024-25 away shirt features black as the dominant color. The black perfectly complements the Blaugrana colors used in the collars and side stripes. The swoosh and the crest also add to the aesthetic appeal, both of which are toned black with the iconic garnet and blue finish. In the center of the kit lies the Spotify logo in garnet. As striking as the jersey looks, it must be noted that the soccer club has not officially released or confirmed the kit.

The model above is a high-quality prediction made by a Turkish soccer kit expert. However, other than minor changes, the final design is expected to be more or less the same, especially after similar reports ran rampant at the beginning of the season. Blaugrana kicked off their campaign with a white away kit inspired by the club’s 1978 white kit. While that color scheme faced a little criticism, September brought with it a welcome speculative surprise for the fans.
Barcelona’s 2020-21 black and golden away kit holds a special place in numerous fans’ hearts. Four years ago marked the season where the club officially concluded its Lionel Messi chapter, the last time he wore Blaugrana colors, and the last time Barcelona fans saw an iconic black jersey. So when reports of the club going back to ‘black’ broke, it made them reminisce about all the other times the Spanish giants have donned black kits.
It could be the 5th time black for Barcelona
Previously, there have been four instances when FC Barcelona went full black. The first was in 2011-12, Pep Guardiola’s last season in charge. The club used black in the second kit with a phosphorescent Nike logo. The shirt proved to be a hit, and the club used a very similar design as the third-choice kit in 2012-13.

The 2013-14 kit also featured black as the main color, but this time, there was a subtle difference. Thin yellow fluorescent lines were on the sides. Also, La Senyera, the Catalan flag, was on the back of the collar. Then, black returned 7 years later in 2020-21.
That kit was the third strip for the season and was used exclusively for UEFA Champions League ties. The season proved to be disappointing due to Lionel Messi’s exit, but Barca did manage to win the Copa Del Rey. As per the reports, we could witness the fifth black Blaugrana jersey this year.
