Wrexham AFC created history last season and ended their 15-year-old drought with an appearance in the EFL. Moreover, they also had a record points tally of 111 last season. After a scintillating performance capped off by promotion, reinforcements and preparation for the next season will have to be on point. One of the key signings made by the Red Dragons this year is former Huddersfield defender Will Boyle. The veteran center-back comes with years of experience in League 1 and League 2. Ahead of the Pre-Season Tour, Boyle shared about the move to Wrexham and what the club can expect in League 2.

“The ambitions of the club match my own. I want to be playing at a higher level than what I have come to play at and the club has got clear ambitions to be doing that,” revealed Boyle.
He attributed the decision to the overall project that Wrexham represents and how exciting it is. “It was an exciting move with everything that comes with the club and the project which is a bit of a thrown-about word but it does sum it up quite well”, he said.
“League Two will be very competitive” – Boyle gives fans a preview of the upcoming season
Before Boyle’s stint with the Terriers, the 27-year-old spent nearly 5 years with Cheltenham alongside current Wrexham captain Ben Tozer. Cheltenham eventually gained promotion from League 2 in Boyle’s last season. If there are a few players with Wrexham who know how to clinch the League 2 title, Will is definitely one of them.

Speaking with ‘The Leader’, the center back acknowledged that it is a tough task for Wrexham owing to a relatively inexperienced squad. “I know for a fact it won’t be easy,” he said. The defender then said that despite the challenge, he and the team aren’t worried because they have a set plan. “League Two will be very competitive this season and the club knows that as well but we know what we want to do.”
