Some offers are indisputable. Wrexham AFC have now reached a position where they can entice and convince players to sign for them. After nearly undergoing a collapse due to finances a few years ago, to see them achieve two consecutive promotions is heartwarming for soccer lovers. Nevertheless, for the club to keep thriving in the English soccer pyramid, owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are pouring their hearts out. The acquisition of Arthur Okonkwo, who played a crucial role in the team’s recent triumphs, is proof of McElhenney’s determination.

Recently on the Men in Blazers show, McElhenney threw light on how he managed to bring the Arsenal star on a permanent deal. “I had a very long conversation with Arthur very quickly after the season was over sometime in May,” the Hollywood star admitted.

Subsequently, suggesting that he already knew the club’s plans, McElhenney further said, “It was more encouraging him to speak to the other players and to fill and to ask them are we putting all our money where our mouth is? Or are we just blowing hot air? And thankfully after speaking with me for quite a while, I kind of laid out for him how I saw this year going or the next few years going that would be different from what he’s already seen.” While their run till now is praiseworthy, a vision for an even better future can never be ruled out.

Both Wrexham and the supporters were always sure of Okonkwo’s ability. To their amusement, the youngster already exceeded their expectations helping them to achieve a top of the table standing although they played a game extra than some teams. Wrexham after their first game hasn’t conceded a single goal in EFL’s League One thanks to their defense led by the English goalie. With four clean sheets, the club has conceded just two goals after 5 matches.

Moreover, Wrexham #1 received the man of the match against Bolton Wanderers after a few magnificent saves, carrying on from where he left last year. Okonkwo took 14 clean sheets in League Two when he arrived as a loanee from the Gunners. He was inducted into League Two’s team of the 2023-24 season and is on his way to replicate that  achievement.
