However, La Liga president Javier Tebas has completely different views on the topic, with the league head honcho claiming no player can be credited for a competition’s success. He additionally claimed Cristiano Ronaldo saw a decrease in his value after his stint for Juventus in the Serie A.

In an exclusive interview with Juan José Buscalia for DSports Tebas stated, “Players are important but not essential for a competition. Cristiano went to Italy and Italian football has not increased, his rights have not increased, they have decreased. Messi left with Neymar and Mbappé, and French football has not taken off. We have continued to grow.”

While Javier Tebas’ words surely hold value; Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have proven him wrong! Following their move to Saudi Arabia and the United States, the duo have completely transformed their respective competitions. Tebas, while putting La Liga on top, did not shy away from giving his flowers by labeling them as the best players in the world.

Javier Tebas puts Lionel Messi over Cristiano Ronaldo

Despite being a keen Real Madrid supporter, La Liga boss Javier Tebas did not stutter when putting Lionel Messi ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo as the greatest of all time. Despite downplaying their impact on leagues worldwide, Tebas claimed the success Messi and Ronaldo have achieved will never be repeated.

The La Liga boss stated, “Lionel and Cristiano are the best two players in history, with Messi as first. Trying to repeat it for so long, because Messi and Cristiano have been at the highest level since they were 18, it will never happen again. The stars have aligned.”

Both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have had a decorated career, with the duo sharing a combined 13 Ballon d’Or awards between themselves. Cristiano also made history earlier last year crossing the 800 mark, with the player now keen to close his career with a 1000 goals. Meanwhile, Lionel Messi also shows no signs of stopping, with the Argentine talisman silencing the critics with his phenomenal display with Inter Miami.
