Real Madrid fans are still yet to recover from the euphoria of signing Kylian Mbappe. The Frenchman has admitted to being incredibly ‘excited’ and ‘happy’ to dazzle at the Bernabeu. After all, it is the club that he supported in his childhood. But, it has come to light that in addition to Los Blancos, a Saudi club was queuing up for the most in-demand free agent in the market. The Frenchman’s reaction is one that offered them little encouragement even regarding a future move.

As per reports, Saudi side Al Hilal had approached Kylian Mbappe regarding a potential move. Notably, Jorge Jesus’ side had a longstanding interest in the prolific Frenchman. In 2023, there were reports that the men in blue made a $1 Billion offer for the French forward. Then, the PSG star rejected the move to continue in France. It seems little has changed in his opinion of a Saudi move even now. As per reports, Mbappe laughed at the idea of playing for Al Hilal.

Kylian Mbappe’s current contract with Real Madrid runs until 2029. But, the contract is not as lucrative as one might suspect. In fact, as per reports, Mbappe is not even among the top 5 earners at the Spanish giants. Even last year’s signing Jude Bellingham is set to earn more than the Frenchman. Nevertheless, this is a smart move from the Madrid hierarchy. Mbappe not being welcomed with a red carpet could compel him to work hard and prove his worth. But, in his start to life in Spain, the Frenchman might face a few challenges.

Kylian Mbappe is expected to make a few adjustments for Los Blancos

For starters, Kylian Mbappe won’t be getting his preferred #7 jersey. This is occupied by Vinicius Jr who is among the best in the world. The renewal of Luka Modric means that the winger won’t be able to use the #10 like he does with France. The only realistic option he has is the #9. The #9 jersey has been free since the departure of Karim Benzema. Notably, Mbappe’s idol Cristiano too wore the #9 in his first season at Madrid. Emulating Ronaldo’s feats at Madrid will certainly help Mbappe’s cause.

Secondly, Kylian Mbappe might not be able to line-up in his preferred left-flank position. Standing in his way is again Vinicius Jr. Hence, if Ancelotti decided to go with a 4-3-3, the Frenchman could find himself playing as a striker. The 25-year-old has played there previously for PSG. But it is evident, that it is not his preferred position.
