PSG eased past Brest with a 3-1 win in Coupe de France, to book a spot in the quarterfinals. Kylian Mbappe opened PSG’s scoring in the 34th minute, bagging his 30th goal of the season. Since Mbappe’s exploits threatened the Brest defense throughout, they resorted to physical gameplay to contain him. Center-back Lilian Brassier saw a red card after receiving his second yellow for an aggressive 70th-minute tackle on the PSG superstar. That was one of many tackles of the night on the 25-year-old and he is hence now at an injury risk to his ankle.
“The truth is that I have no news,” said PSG’s manager Luis Enrique, while referring to Kylian Mbappe’s ankle injury. Per RMC’s Arthur Perrot, the player’s ankle condition will be closely monitored from today.

Since Lilian Brassier’s second tackle sent Kylian Mbappe to the ground, his injury woes became a talking point in the post-match interview. Enrique was asked if he had any news about the striker’s injury. “No… the truth is that I have no news. The doctors are going to do tests tomorrow, he took a big blow to his ankle. He was able to complete the match, so I don’t think it will be very serious. This is the news I have,” said the Spaniard. Fuelling the coach’s optimism, Perrot confirmed that the initial medical test on the Frenchman was reassuring.
After sustaining the second tackle from Brassier, Mbappe attempted twice for a goal and completed the 90 minutes of the game too. An attempt narrowly brushed wide, and another was thwarted by the goalie, Gregoire Coudert. Even though the French media and Enrique are optimistic about the Frenchman’s condition, only a thorough medical examination could tell if he will be available for the next few matches. And crucial clashes await the Parisians.
