In the last season, Liverpool finished fifth in the Premier League table. This also led to several sections of media, specifically pointing out the lackluster defense of star right-back Trent Alexander Arnold. This also led to the question of whether he deserved a place in the starting line-up for the Reds and England. The high level of scrutiny has continued this season. This has led to manager Jurgen Klopp responding to the conversations. He said, “Nobody doubts he can improve defensively but it’s not as bad as anyone’s making it out. It’s just the society we live in. If you lose 1 defensive challenge… Kyle Walker loses from time to time, you don’t make a big story about it.”

The German coach will certainly feel that he made the statements at the right time. Liverpool is currently on top of the Premier League. Trent Alexander Arnold was also doing well before his knee injury. This led to back-up right-back Conor Bradley grabbing the opportunity with both hands. He scored a goal and got two assists in the game against Chelsea. It has also led to the question of whether Trent will make a return to the midfield.
It will be fascinating to see what sort of decision the German manager makes at a critical time. However, as far as Kyle Walker is concerned, he has also received similar support from his manager.

Kyle Walker’s off-the-field problems have created big questions for Pep Guardiola about whether to keep him as a captain. The pressure has further increased as Kevin De Bruyne made his return from injury. However, it looks like this is not a topic of discussion for the Spanish Coach. He made it clear that the 33-year-old will remain the captain till the end of the season.
Pep also made it clear that he would not talk about personal issues. This does not come as a surprise, as Guardiola was the one to stop Walker from considering the Bayern Munich proposal last summer.
