In recent days, Kevin De Bruyne has found himself at the center of transfer speculation. The Belgian superstar’s domestic future is up in the air as he is poised to leave Manchester City. The rumor mill suggests that the highly-rated midfielder is contemplating a move to Saudi Arabia, where he might join forces with Cristiano Ronaldo at Al Nassr.

Renowned Italian journalist Rudy Galetti was the author of this unexpected report. A group of officials from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) has recently rekindled ties with Kevin De Bruyne. Galetti claims that the Belgian midfielder is a big target for the PIF in the upcoming season. It is also reported that the player is open to discussing the details of a possible post-June transfer to the Middle Eastern country. Hence, there is a chance for De Bruyne to play for PIF-owned Roshn Saudi League sides, including Al Nassr, Al Hilal, Al Ittihad, and Al Ahli.

Notably, Ronaldo’s domestic side has been touted as a prime candidate for the signature of the former Chelsea star. Al Nassr had earlier reportedly bid a $75 million offer to Manchester City, which they swiftly turned down. Additionally, there were reports that an offer of $54 million could be made in the winter transfer window. Either way, it is quite an interesting development. Ironically, De Bruyne himself had earlier rejected the idea of playing in the Roshn Saudi League.

Kevin De Bruyne gave the cold shoulder to the Saudi Pro League

After Al Nassr made the first move, Kevin De Bruyne reportedly told the Saudi negotiator and the representatives of the Knights of the Najd that he wanted to give Manchester City his whole attention until the end of the current campaign. However, this does not rule out the possibility of relocating to the Gulf. Evidently, the player’s stance has changed, given that now he is pondering a move.

Remarkably, De Bruyne’s contract expires in the summer of 2025, which means this year might be the only chance for City to cash in on their star player and invest the money somewhere else. Last year’s Champions League winners should also consider his hamstring injury, which kept the magician off the pitch for the whole year. Nevertheless, only time will tell whether De Bruyne will be a part of the Gulf exodus or not.
