Manchester City’s success in the last few years can be attributed to its meticulous midfield. And Kevin De Bruyne was an integral part of the club’s success all the while. This year’s season has witnessed ups and downs for the Manchester team. But one of the major setbacks they experienced was an injury to De Bruyne. However, the star midfielder has an important update about his situation after suffering the injury in August.

De Bruyne’s absence is already felt, as the team faced some hiccups on their way to repeating their treble-winning antics from last season. But it seems like the Belgian star’s return is on the cards.

The last few months have been tough for the Belgian. The talisman aims to return as soon as possible to help the cause, as the English club has failed to nail down the top spot in the PL standings.  However, according to reports, Kevin De Bruyne will only return after the New Year. The star claimed that he is progressing well and will hopefully be back as soon as possible, but also clarified that there’s some work still left to do. The City midfielder said, “It’s going well, getting along. Still got a little way to go, but we’ll be there. Hopefully [I’ll be back] something close after the New Year if everything goes well…”

The 32-year-old suffered a hamstring injury and has been out since then. He suffered the injury setback in the season’s first game against Burnley in August. De Bryune player has been undergoing rehabilitation since then. The player also suffered the ignominy of coming off in the Champions League final and the issue has continued to haunt him yet again.

The team is already missing the services of the Belgians, who played a major role in their treble win. Coming in fourth in the Ballon d’Or race, the star had a brilliant season last year, scoring 10 goals and providing 32 assists for the team in all competitions. Pep Guardiola misses the services of De Bruyne

After a 1-1 draw against Liverpool in the last game, Manchester City lost its pole position in the league to Arsenal. Guardiola has clearly missed the services of his star player after a series of key departures in the summer. The Spanish manager would aim to ensure that standards aren’t dropped and players don’t take it easy after winning a historic treble last season. Getting the Belgian back in the squad would help in instilling the standards and aspirations the Manchester club aims to pursue this campaign. De Bryune’s ability to decide a game with his contribution could come in handy as we advance into the second half of the soccer season.

The City midfielder had helped Erling Haaland with 13 assists last season. Haaland went on to win the Gerd Muller Trophy and UEFA Player of the Year awards for his incredible 52 goals last season. Guardiola will be keen to reignite the partnership as they aim to achieve major honors. However, the coach and the club are giving the player time and not hurrying to avoid any ill consequences.
