Karim Benzema‘s recent social media activity has been interesting, to say the least. After reactivating his Instagram account, the star has removed all the soccer-related posts barring one. Despite all the criticism surrounding his performances for Al Ittihad, the Frenchman seems to have wiped out everything Real Madrid player-related as well. The striker had previously said, “This club (Real Madrid) is my whole life.” Did the equation change between the Frenchman and Los Blancos?
Upon reactivating his Instagram, Karim Benzema has just kept 7 posts on his feed. The only one that is soccer-related is the one with him winning the Ballon d’Or. The other 6 posts have no connection with Al Ittihad or Real Madrid. But that’s not all. He has also unfollowed all his ex-teammates from Real Madrid with whom he shared a lot of success. However, he is following both Real Madrid and Al Ittihad‘s official handles. Such chaos, on his return after 44 days.
Back on December 26, Al Ittihad faced off against Cristiano Ronaldo and Co. There was a lot of hype surrounding the match, considering it was the reigning champions against the team in form. However, Al Nassr dismantled them with a 2-5 scoreline. The Frenchman blanked in the game and his performance drew a lot of outrage. The social media hate was so much that Karim Benzema had to deactivate his handle.

The match even raised doubts regarding his continuity at the club. The striker even missed subsequent training sessions and was banned by Marcelo Gallardo from attending the Dubai Training Camp. However, the Ballon d’Or winner diffused the situation by saying, “The media is lying, I did not ask to leave.” While the situation regarding Karim Benzema is still unclear, Al Ittihad might have already started talks for a potential replacement.

There is no guarantee on whether Karim Benzema will be at the club next year. Perhaps this might be the reason why the defending RSL Champions want to bring Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah to the Middle East. Reportedly, the Saudi side is readying a $250 million offer for the iconic right winger. While the Egyptian had previously rejected a Saudi club’s approach, this time the situation has changed.
Jurgen Klopp has announced his departure from Liverpool at the end of the season. While Salah’s contract ends in 2025, it is now unlikely he will extend his stay after the German’s announcement. Furthermore, acquiring the Egyptian superstar could also motivate Karim Benzema to stay. Salah could also be a more than capable replacement. Regardless, the transfer will not be an easy one, considering Salah’s status at Merseyside.
