Saudi Pro League’s Al Ittihad has seemingly put an end to the chaos surrounding Karim Benzema. On the back of extensive scrutiny and pressure at the club, Benzema aimed to terminate his contract and return to Europe. But the 2022 Ballon d’Or winner changed his mind and is staying at Al Ittihad for the time being. With a closure on the Benzema situation, the league’s reigning champions are reportedly pursuing Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah again. The Dammam-based outfit has rekindled their interest after the player and Liverpool rejected prior offers.

As per The Atlantic, sources close to Al Ittihad confirmed that the club still believes they could sign Mohamed Salah. Besides, the Saudi side has also readied a $250 million offer for the Egyptian striker, as per the report. Notably, this offer is not as enterprising as the prior offer, which was valued at close to $270 million. The club’s pursuit of Salah is unsurprising, considering their lack of overseas star power to aid Benzema and the team’s attack.

Currently, they have Portugal’s Jota and Brazil’s Romarinho by Benzema’s side. But neither of these players is as lethal and dynamic as Mohamed Salah. The 31-year-old’s contract with Liverpool runs until 2025. Per early rumors, the Egyptian and the Reds were eyeing a contract extension. However, with Jurgen Klopp‘s exit coming up, it is quite unlikely that he will extend his stay. Furthermore, Liverpool is reportedly eyeing two signings to replace Salah.

Per the latest reports, Liverpool aims to land FC Barcelona’s Ansu Fati and Raphinha as potential replacements for Mohamed Salah. Ansu Fati is currently playing for Brighton Hove Albion on loan from Barcelona. The Catalan club may offload him, should any club show interest. Meanwhile, Raphinha has not had a successful spell in Barcelona since he joined in 2022. The Merseyside club aims for this double move, fearing they will lose their veteran striker to Al Ittihad’s deep pockets.
