It has been a terrible few games for Lionel Messi and PSG recently. PSG lost two consecutive home games in the league for the first time after 2007. The two back-to-back losses saw the Parisians’ lead at the top cut down to six points. Lens and Marseille are in the title race. PSG is yet to play against Lens, and the club’s performances are drawing criticism from the fans.

But the most criticized player currently has been Messi. The ultras are booing the Argentine regularly, claiming he goes missing in important games. PSG went down to Lyon in the Ligue1 game on Sunday by 1-0. It was again the worst performance from the Parisians, which saw their opposition cashing on. Fans were not happy with the performances of the players. ESPN released a statistic concerning Messi from the Lyon game that saw fans slamming the former Barcelona talisman.

The stat was Messi losing the ball 26 times during the game against Lyon. It was mostly for any player during the game. ESPN further wrote the Argentine has lost possessions 498 times in Ligue1 this season. One fan wrote“Just go to MLS already,” slamming Messi for his performance.

The other fan wrote, “He’s disgustingly bad. He lets the opposition have the ball far too many times, allowing them to create far more chances.”

Some fans labeled the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner as “a flop, washed, overrated, and a fraud”. There are a few fans who think he can’t perform outside of his comfort zone of Barcelona and Argentina, while other fans think it was the worst decision by PSG to bring in the former Barcelona superstar.
