Such is the German veteran’s influence and impact in the dressing room. However, the match against Chelsea showed that it’s not just Konate but the entire Liverpool squad who is willing to give their all. Many believed that the timing of his announcement might affect Liverpool’s title run. However, contrary to popular opinion, a former rival Chelsea star thinks that it’s instead a massive boost!

These two sides will be meeting again in the Carabao Cup Final on February 27. The Reds’ squad will be hoping to deliver a trophy in Jurgen Klopp’s final season and wrap up his iconic stint on a high.

Chelsea veteran Craig Burley was all praises for the Reds. He said, “They’re playing great, they’re scoring goals. They’re coping with Mohamed Salah away. Yeah, youngsters are coming in and doing well. The experienced players are coming back. ” However, as per Burley, the biggest influence in the victory might be their manager himself. He explained, “It’s the effect of Jurgen Klopp as I thought at this moment in time leaving has gone the positive way not the negative.” Perhaps this could’ve been the manager’s plan all along.

There was a lot of speculation regarding the timing of his announcement. With Liverpool comfortably in first position in the English Premier League and the domestic treble still on, why would Jurgen Klopp drop a bomb on his team, which was enjoying the utmost stability? Moreover, it has been confirmed that the club is still on the lookout for a new manager, despite the Xabi Alonso links. Klopp might have wanted to give his team the extra push to go all the way once last time under his reign.

From the looks of it, the plan seems to have fired up the squad. Recently, the club’s captain Virgil van Dijk revealed the squad’s goals for the season and it seems they’re now determined to end on a positive note.

It seems the Liverpool skipper found the Klopp news just as hard to digest as the supporters. The Dutchman said, “It’s a hard one to take, because the manager means so much for us, to me, to the club, to the whole Premier League, I think. But he made the decision for him and his family. It was always going to be a tough one, and it was definitely the case.”
