Christian Pulisic is the latest soccer star to get his very own documentary. Courtesy of Paramount+, passionate cinephiles and soccer fans alike will get a glimpse beyond the goals and galore of the USMNT star in the aptly titled series, PULISIC, which delves into his lesser-known life off the pitch. While some may question why Pulisic was chosen for such a spotlight, Jurgen Klopp has the perfect response for the critics.

The German manager, who towards the end of the 2023/24 season stepped down from his Liverpool job, is among the most surprising names to come in defense of the AC Milan forward. Well, he had to, considering the 57-year-old appears in Pulisic’s documentary for a featured interview, as seen in the latest teaser unveiled by Paramount+. Interestingly, Klopp was seen talking about Pulisic in one of the teaser’s frames where he succinctly mentioned, “You don’t make documentaries about everybody.”

A clear and correct response for those who have been questioning the release of such a documentary dedicated to Pulisic. Of course, throughout the years, we have seen many revered names of the beautiful game get their own documentaries, including the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, and David Beckham. However, critics argue that Pulisic doesn’t hold a status like such names, and it’s unclear why he gets to be the center of attraction.

Then again, this perfect reply from Klopp is enough to shut out the unnecessary talk. Notably, it’s not like the former Reds boss made this statement for the sake of documentary. Jurgen had highlighted Pulisic’s exceptional talent years ago, reflecting on the young American’s remarkable potential when he was just a teenager. At only 16, the USMNT skipper began training with Dortmund’s senior team, an early sign of his destined greatness.

Klopp’s prediction proved accurate, as Pulisic went on to secure a high-profile move to Chelsea in 2019 before making another star transfer to AC Milan in 2023. “I had when I left Dortmund, Pulisic came through, so I had him as a 16-year-old in training and I thought ‘Oh my God! Wow!’ And then you see him later, at Chelsea, doing well now at AC Milan. I would love to stay with all the people in the building,” said Klopp to Anfield Wrap.

No wonder Klopp must have agreed to get interviewed for Pulisic’s documentary in a heartbeat. As for the reasons why this documentary is being released, here are more things for you to know.
