Jurgen Klopp‘s chances to win silverware before leaving Liverpool at the season’s end are getting thinner. Manchester United scored two late goals in extra time to knock out Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-final. After the disheartening loss, the Liverpool boss was quizzed about the team’s drop in intensity in the extra time. “A bit of a dumb question, I have to say, because you see us that often,” said an embittered Klopp in response. His outrage at the reporter has now insinuated fellow journalist Piers Morgan.
Piers Morgan took to X (formerly known as Twitter) with a video of Jurgen Klopp’s outrageous interview in the tunnel. “Klopp is such a graceless sore loser numpty,” Morgan captioned his tweet. During the interview, the Liverpool boss tried to defend his team’s performance drop in the extra time. He said, “We played so many games recently. “I don’t know exactly how many games United played. I’m really disappointed about that question.” But the reporter had no intention to leave Klopp. He commented, “So too many games.” That was the last straw for the German coach. “You are obviously not in great shape and I have no nerves for you,” the 56-year-old fired back and walked away, leaving the reporter puzzled.

Last night, Liverpool blew their lead against Manchester United in the 112th minute of the game. Marcus Rashford equalized with eight minutes on the clock. Thereafter in the 121st minute, United started a quick counterattack which was ruthlessly finished by Amad Diallo with a left-foot strike. Knocking Liverpool out, MUFC will now face Coventry in the FA Cup semi-final. Meanwhile, the loss against United saw Klopp’s second major silverware of the season slip away before he called his Liverpool stint quits.

Until a few months back, Liverpool has had a shot at winning the continental treble. However, they blew that prospect by failing to even reach the knockout stage of the ongoing UEFA Champions League. After a lackluster run in the UCL’s group stage, Jurgen Klopp and co. got downgraded to the UEFA Europa League. Their run at the Europa League is going strong. Hence, a Europa League title is not a distant dream for the German tactician before he exits Anfield.
With the FA Cup gone out of sight, the Premier League title is the other prize Klopp’s men could compete for. Leaving the Reds with a PL title win is a fairytale end the veteran could ask for. But now, the goal difference advantage has put Arsenal ahead of Liverpool in the title race. Meanwhile, Manchester City could also pull off a late title race drama to turn things around and upset Liverpool and Arsenal. Hence, if the Reds fail to be consistently intense in the coming days, one could see Klopp’s similar infamous exchanges with the press. Or worse, he could bid Anfield adieu without a trophy.
