US Soccer has been producing a good lot of soccer talent in recent times. American homegrown soccer players tend to start off their careers in the MLS and then find big-money moves to big soccer clubs. One of the latest candidates following the same pattern is Julian Araujo. The LA Galaxy right-back could be on his way to a life-changing move to Barcelona, one of the biggest clubs in the soccer universe. The young fullback is a product of the LA Galaxy youth academy.

Having made his senior in 2019, Araujo could be on his way to Spain for a sensational transfer.
Barcelona wants to land the Julian Araujo deal!
Araujo is one of those rare players who has played for the USMNT and Mexico in his career. FC Barcelona is reportedly interested in the young soccer star. This news surfaces after Barcelona’s regular right-back, Hector Bellerin might be on his way out of the club. The former Arsenal soccer star could join Sporting Lisbon if Pedro Porro gets his transfer to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Spanish La Liga giants will be left with absolutely no cover at right back. Barcelona has reportedly been watching Araujo for a very long time. According to Albert Roge, and Toni Juanmarti, Barcelona has already contracted the LA Galaxy regarding the possible transfer. The Spanish soccer giants are reportedly interested in only a loan at the moment with an additional ‘option to buy’ clause.
Looks like Barcelona is searching high and low-cal to find their next right-back, but they might just have found a diamond in the rough- MLS's Julian Araujo!

This is mainly because Barcelona has been struggling with La Liga’s financial rules in the last few seasons. The Spanish soccer giants will most likely not be able to include Araujo’s full wage package in their system. Barcelona has overshot the league’s salary cap on multiple occasions in the past.
Hence, a loan deal for the Mexican fullback looks extremely imminent as of now. However, Barcelona will need to hurry up with the deal as there are only a few hours remaining in the winter transfer window.

The Mexican right-back was born in the US but has a Mexican descent. However, the LA Galaxy star never made an ‘official’ appearance for the USMNT. In 2021, the right back shockingly filed for a one-time switch to Mexico. FIFA was happy to approve Araujo’s case, as he hadn’t officially played for the USMNT. Since then, the LA Galaxy star has managed to make 3 appearances in total for Mexico.
Araujo has been a solid component of the LA Galaxy squad. The right-back played in almost every game for LA Galaxy last season. Araujo led by example after assisting nine goals throughout the season. The Mexican right-back was second overall among fullbacks in the MLS for total assists. The American soccer fans cannot wait to see one of their own go and shine in Spain.
