Real Madrid’s super signing Jude Bellingham has won the 2023 Kopa Trophy. The former Borussia Dortmund star has managed to steal the trophy from the likes of Rasmus Hojlund, Eduardo Camavinga, and the Barcelona trio of Gavi, Pedri, and Alejandro Balde. The other stars nominated for the coveted award were Jamal Musiala and Xavi Simons.

Bellingham was handed over the award by his current club’s former star, Eden Hazard, who this year announced his retirement. Notably, last year, the award was won by Catalan star Gavi at the age of 18, and Bellingham also cut the nominations alongside Jamal Musiala and Eduardo Camavinga.

However, this time, the Spanish midfielder has been overshadowed by his arch-rivals’ star signing. Ironically, Bellingham managed to out-muscle Gavi and his side in a recent El Clasico match. The Madrid No. 5 managed to scoop up two outstanding goals, thus helping Carlo Ancelotti’s side win the historic match 2-1. The win also sent Xavi’s side below the table, while Madrid is sitting at the top with 28 points.

Nevertheless, it has been a remarkable season for Bellingham, and winning the Kopa Trophy is certainly a cherry on the cake. Meanwhile, let’s dive deeper to learn more about his emphatic season.

Bellingham is a show-stealer!

The 20-year-old has been brilliant for Los Blancos this season, notching ten goals and two assists in 10 La Liga games. He has also bagged three goals and an assist in three Champions League appearances. Suddenly, the midfielder has somehow taken on the role of a number nine. In fact, he has unexpectedly filled the void left by Karim Benzema.

Subsequently, his numbers for his former side, Borussia Dortmund, have also been quite noteworthy. Bellingham bagged 24 goals and 25 assists in over 132 games for the Bundesliga side. Additionally, he has become a regular starter to his beloved nation, England. Be that as it may, the journey towards success has just begun for Bellingham, as there’s a lot to win.
