Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid turned out to be a pipe dream. Despite a lot of speculation about moving to Los Blancos last summer, the Frenchman somehow stayed at PSG. While there were myriad reasons for this collapse, one of the most unexpected factors that has emerged is Jude Bellingham, as the La Liga side was adamant that ‘he will score a lot of goals and get assists.’

Meanwhile, Kylian Mbappe’s contract situation with PSG hasn’t changed yet. The fear of losing him for free remains with the Parisians, as he has yet to sign a contract extension.

Jude Bellingham’s arrival put a halt to the Kylian Mbappe decision

Despite being heavily linked with Kylian Mbappe, Real Madrid made the most unconventional move and rather splurged their millions on Jude Bellingham. Fans had hoped that, aside from the Englishman, Los Blancos would sign the Frenchman as their star signing. However, in the eyes of Madrid, they had already signed this year’s Galactico. This revelation came from Fabrizio Romano. He revealed, “When we had the Mbappé & Real Madrid stories in July, I was asking my Real Madrid sources about it but the answer was always the same: ‘Our star signing for this summer is done. It’s Jude Bellingham. He will score a lot of goals & get assists’. So credits to Real Madrid.” 

One would reckon Jude Bellingham was signed for the central midfield area of the pitch. But the La Liga side had confidence in their $111 million-rated signing to take up other roles as well. In fact, their prediction did come true, as the England midfielder’s versatility has allowed him to take up the role of No. 9, bagging 16 goals and five assists in 19 games. Perhaps Mbappe will be signed as next year’s Galactico. However, that might not happen, as Madrid is being urged to sign Erling Haaland instead. 

Real Madrid backed to snub Mbappe for Erling Haaland

Legendary Real Madrid forward Alfonso Perez created a buzz in the soccer community when he expressed his preference for Haaland over Mbappe in terms of making a transfer decision. Despite recognizing the Frenchman’s talent, Perez believes that the profile of the Norwegian striker better aligns with what Real Madrid is currently seeking.

“I think Mbappe is the best in the world, but we already have Vinicius and Rodrygo in that position,” the former Spanish forward explained.
