“We talk about footballing heroes, and my dad was like my first,” is how Jude Bellingham describes the impact his father had on him and his career. And rightfully so! A former West Midlands police officer with 700 goals, Mark Bellingham can be perceived as a personification of hard work and talent, who not only pushed himself into the history books, but is now instrumental in making the same possible for his son.

Now, as Jude Bellingham embarks on his first season at Real Madrid, the Englishman is set to appear in the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League final, facing his former club Borussia Dortmund, who he had joined back in 2020. From being a prolific non-league footballer to working in law enforcement to now managing his son’s professional career, there are a lot of hats that father Mark Bellingham has worn in his lifetime. Reports also reveal that the young player’s iconic Real Madrid signing was actually thoughtfully orchestrated by his folks, once they realised their son had the potential to do better on an international level. While that’s a purely strategic move, it wouldn’t have been possible if young Bellingham didn’t follow through with his performances. And perhaps that’s where Mark Bellingham’s genes might have played a major factor.

For those who don’t know, Jude would have never been a soccer player if it weren’t for his dad. Mark Bellingham was a renowned name on the field long before Jude even learned to spell ‘football’. Notably, he was a regular in non-league circuits, showcasing his skills for clubs like Halesowen Town, Sutton Coldfield, Stourbridge, Bromsgrove Rovers, and Leamington. Playing primarily as a striker, he displayed exceptional goal-scoring prowess, tallying over 700 goals in 25 years.

Notably, Mark scored 61 goals for Stourbridge during the 2005–06 season, a feat that still stands today in the club’s records as an unachievable feat. He also achieved a staggering 700 goals in 2016, at 40 years of age. While the former footballer never transitioned to the League for reasons currently unknown, his time on the field is one for the books for sure. And it seems there’s no dearth of former collaborators ready to back that point!

Bellingham’s former manager Jason Cadden, while talking about the retired player’s undying spirit revealed, according to Daily Mail, “I don’t know how he did it. In evening games, the full-time whistle would blow and you’d see Mark sprint off. He’d jump in the shower, get in his car and start his police shift at 10pm.”

“A nice guy — always polite and friendly. Fierce negotiator and a really shrewd operator,” said an unknown senior player of Mark Bellingham. While this gives everyone an idea about he was professionally, there’s no greater testament of Mark than what his son revealed. “When you go and watch him play every week in non-league, you know it’s not the Premier League or anything, but seeing the way he played and the atmosphere, it made me fall in love with football so he was probably my first hero,” the Real Madrid player had revealed, according to The Sun.

Making sure Jude Bellingham would always have the most dedicated team member in his corner, his father also transitioned to the role of a licensed FIFA agent after he successfully passed the soccer governing body’s mandated exams. Since then, he has taken on the responsibility of his son’s soccer career, and has helped make what Jude Bellingham is today.

But if Mark Bellingham can be called the brain, his wife and Jude Bellingham’s mother, Denise, is definitely the heart as her contributions in the family stand in a league of its own!

Jude Bellingham mistakenly revealed mother Denise still makes his bed

To outsiders, Denise Bellingham is just a working professional in human resources. But for those who know the family closely, Denise is the string that ties the family together. With her husband, the mother of two budding talents, makes sure none of her sons miss out on anything.

Literally following her superstar older son through his journey, it is reported that she even moved to Germany from England, when the then-17-year-old bright-eyed Jude Bellingham was signed by Borussia Dortmund. And that trend has continued as the mother-son duo now share a flat in Madrid. Funnily, the player had also revealed that his mother still makes his bed. Now, isn’t that heartwarming? Having said that, beyond her roles as a mother, Denise is also responsible for handling her son’s financial dealings.

“The role my mum is playing is massive. I think at the minute it is probably the biggest role of anyone, even probably more than my coaches and managers, to be honest,” Jude Bellingham had revealed. And it’s certainly showing in his performances.

As Denise’s older son seems on the way to script history, there’s another prodigy following closely behind. Currently playing for Sunderland, 18-year-old Jobe is also making strides in the Championship.

Making his mark in the team by playing in 11 of their Championship matches and scoring twice, the young player has also been capped at the U16, U17, and U18 levels for the country’s national team. While the younger lad is yet to take a bigger step in the soccer world, both Mark and Denise are enjoying the stardom of their eldest son. In fact, Mr. and Mrs. Bellingham are leaving no stone unturned in supporting Jude ahead of the most important match of his career.

As things currently stand, both Real Madrid and Dortmund have arrived in England for the finals of the 2023–24 UEFA Champions League. With the final set to take place tomorrow, both teams are making final preparations for the emphatic clash. Interestingly, doors of the Wembley Stadium were opened for the crowd to witness their favorite stars train. And as expected, there was Mark and Denise Bellingham on the sidelines, watching their son train ahead of the crucial fixture.
