Jose Mourinho‘s reunion with Cristiano Ronaldo at Al Nassr appears to have taken a huge turn. Throughout this season, there have been widespread rumors regarding the in-demand Portuguese tactician joining his former disciple at the Saudi Arabian club. However, it seems the current coaching position taken by Luis Castro won’t get vacated easily, as he intends to be ‘part of Al-Nassr’s achievements.’

The former Porto boss sees himself at the Riyadh-based club for the long haul. As compiled by X account @9NFCBALL, when asked if he would leave the club at the end of the season after successfully winning the Super Cup or the King’s Cup, he said, “I want to be part of Al-Nassr’s achievements, its return to championships, and its building to continue for many years.”

While it’s encouraging to witness Castro’s optimism about his future with Al Nassr, his steadfast commitment also poses a significant setback for the Middle Eastern side. With their current coach firmly pledging his allegiance, it appears unlikely that Ronaldo and Co. would be able to replace him with their long-term target, Mourinho. Even his contract obligations don’t allow him to leave, with his current deal set to expire on June 30, 2025.

Notably, if Al Nassr tries to push his exit after the season ends, they would be required to buy out the remaining portion of his contract. On the other hand, their stance might change if Castro manages to win all the titles that are left to contest. Either decision should be taken quickly, as Al Nassr isn’t alone in pursuing Mourinho.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Al Nassr facing tough competition for Jose Mourinho

As per the reports, Jose Mourinho has two additional offers from Roshn Saudi League. Al Ahli and second-tier Al-Qadisiyah are keen to acquire the services of ‘The Special One.’ Even though the two clubs will reportedly present a unique project and a lucrative deal, Mourinho remains adamant about joining Al Nassr. However, his previous comments might contradict his claims.

Mourinho showed remarkable interest in coaching the Yellow and Blue’s league rivals, Al Shabab FC. He even said, “I will present an expanded plan to bring Al Shabab back to the podium by strengthening the team’s ranks with international players during the next summer transfer market.” Certainly, the former Chelsea boss is in huge demand. It remains to be seen which club he aspires to join.
