The winter transfer window has officially begun. Domestic sides around the globe will look to bolster their ranks for the second phase of the 2023–24 season. Al Nassr also seems ambitious, as they are eager to bring Hakim Ziyech. However, Cristiano Ronaldo and Co’s pursuit of the European star can be in danger as Jose Mourinho looks to hijack the deal.

Ziyech is currently on loan at Galatasaray from Chelsea. The prolific winger has somehow lost his place in the Turkish side, leaving him no choice but to consider his options between the Middle Eastern and Italian sides.

Hakim Ziyech has become the subject of transfer speculation lately. The Moroccan international has since been linked with a move. Earlier reports suggested that Al Nassr has been touted as a prime destination, with the player’s agent also negotiating a move with Al Hilal. However, it seems the winger has another door open, with AS Roma also having joined the race for his signature. Interestingly, Ziyech has become a priority signing for Jose Mourinho, and the ‘Special One’ might urge his domestic side to push for the former Ajax man’s arrival.

While his stay with Galatasaray will conclude at the end of the 2023–24 season, the Turkish side seemingly wants to offload him within the winter transfer window. Notably, he has managed to make just 14 appearances in the Super Lig and Champions League, out of which he has notched 2 goals and an assist in both competitions. Either way, the entry of Roma in the race for Ziyech might complicate things for Al Nassr. Ironically, Ziyech earlier took a dig at Al Nassr after his transfer to the Riyadh side failed.

Ziyech already has a history with the domestic side of Cristiano Ronaldo

During the summer transfer window, Hakim Ziyech was close to joining the ranks of Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mane at Al Nassr. However, a last-minute obstacle thwarted this potential move. Hakim Ziyech’s medical examinations revealed an alleged knee issue, prompting the Saudi club to propose a 40% reduction from the initial contract offer.

As a result, the deal collapsed. In response, the attacker conveyed his disappointment on social media, posting a photo of himself training with the caption “Knee problem, right?” accompanied by laughing emojis. However, now that the January transfer window has opened, we may see him complete the deal.
