A crossover of epic proportions just happened! 16-time World Wresting Champion John Cena has rang up Manchester City star Erling Haaland. Surprisingly, the Norwegian was able to see the WWE icon. What could bring together a WWE powerhouse and the Premier League gunman? Well, the duo join forces in an amusing video announcing the club’s upcoming preseason tour.

In the video, Cena, who was spotted with a unique new hairstyle, asks the Norwegian about their pre-season plans. Erling Haaland replied, “We’re going to New York, Chapel Hill, Columbus, and Orlando.” Cena looked as if he couldn’t contain his excitement. Perhaps an indicator that the ‘Suicide Squad’ actor will be in attendance to watch Pep Guardiola & Co. And who wouldn’t be excited when you can witness players like Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne in the flesh?

With Cena’s allegiance being towards Chelsea, it seems like a well-planned promotional strategy rather than a collaboration as a fan. Regardless, having a marketing magnet like the WWE icon involved in the preseason promotions is an inventive move by the upper management. Notably, it could significantly boost ticket sales much higher than the previous tour of Asia in 2023.

Breaking down Erling Haaland & Co’s USA 2024 pre-season tour

The Sky Blues start their tour on July 23rd against Scottish giants Celtic at Kenan Stadium in Chapel Hill. Moreover, this is the first time the sides are squaring off since their UCL encounter in 2016. Four days later, Manchester City will travel to Yankee Stadium to take on AC Milan. The two sides last met ten years ago, notably in another preseason tour in the US.

30th July will be a special occasion for Pep Guardiola as he will face off against his former club, FC Barcelona. Hosting this mouth-watering clash is the Camping World Stadium in Orlando. Next, they will play the last game of the tour at the iconic Ohio stadium, which boasts a capacity of over 100,000! Their opponents in this match are Premier League rivals Chelsea. Perhaps Manchester City might finally get one over the London side after failing to win against them this season.
