Canada coach Jesse Marsch has not missed one chance to critique the USMNT in the post Copa America era. Earlier, he said the US team lacked discipline after its premature Copa America exit. Now, Marsch has called out USMNT stars’ bizarre stances regarding the team’s head coach fiasco. The Canucks’ coach wonders why certain players who wanted Gregg Berhalter in the US camp have suddenly started to welcome a new head coach. Previously rejected for the USMNT coaching job, Marsch cracked a joke about the potential US boss Mauricio Pochettino’s arrival as well.
During a recent conversation, former US stars such as Tony Meola, Charlie Davis, and Jimmy Conrad asked Jesse Marsch if the USMNT players need to toughen up. In his reply, Marsch lamented the USMNT players’ double standards towards Gregg Berhalter. “The funny thing is a lot of the players that were clamoring to get Gregg [Berhalter] back were also the ones that are now saying that it’s time to move on,” Marsch said.

The US-born Canada coach stated that the USMNT players should focus on being their best rather than worrying about who would coach them. “This sport has to be about constantly being challenged to be your best. I don’t care who the coach is, there shouldn’t be a comfortability. There should always be a drive to be better.”
Likewise, Marsch threw a dig at the US Soccer’s delay in hiring Mauricio Pochettino. He hilariously joked that the US Soccer might bring back Gregg Berhalter instead of the Argentine coach.
Let’s now explore why Jesse Marsch lamented about players going bullish on Gregg Berhalter and changing their stance later.

“I absolutely have faith in him. I don’t think it’s a coach’s job in a lot of situations. You know, we put a game plan in place; guys need to follow the game plan, of course, but you’re a footballer at the end of the day,” said Adams, referring to Gregg Berhalter.
However, he later said in an interview that the next US coach needs to be more ruthless. The Bournemouth star also insisted that the future US coach should mirror Premier League coaches and chase results. If Adams had so much of a big faith in him, why would he list the duties the next USMNT boss must follow?
