Jamie Carragher Defends Snubbing Douglas Luiz for Declan Rice in His Team of the Year XI

It has led to fans also praising the performances of star midfielder Douglas Luiz. But Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher included Declan Rice over him in his team of the year. After receiving a lot of slate on social media, he explained the reasons behind it.

The praise from the fans of Douglas Luiz shows how critical the Brazilian midfielder is to the team. Fans of Aston Villa will hope that their star midfielder can continue to put in impressive performances.

They brought in former Arsenal manager Unai Emery as a manager. Since then, the club has seen tremendous improvements. But Jamie Carragher, in his team of the year, included Declan Rice over the Brazilian. Speaking about the decision on Twitter, he said, “I was only picking one from Luiz, Rodri, or Rice. I went for Rice because of a couple of late winners, which were vital. And joined a new club for a massive fee & played like he had been there a long time.”

The Brazilian midfielder has scored six goals and provided three assists in 19 Premier League games this season. Since his move from Manchester City, he has been vital for the team in avoiding relegation. Now, the midfielder could lead the team to the Premier League title, and probably Manchester City would wonder why they let him go!

There is also a chance that his future could become the talk of this January transfer window or the next summer transfer window for the experts.

Douglas Luiz could soon earn a big move in the future!

The Brazilian midfielder is becoming a player of interest for the Gunners this January transfer window. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Gunners have Luiz on their list. However, Unai Emery, speaking on the rumors, has made it clear that he remains a vital cog in the system. Hence, clubs would need to spend big if they were to acquire him. 

But the scenario could change in the summer transfer window. If the Brazilian midfielder continues with his brilliant performances for the rest of the season, top clubs will come knocking on the door.
