Nearly 4 years after their historic treble in Lisbon, Bayern Munich is set to play the UCL Semis again. A big credit for this goes to Jamal Musiala. The 21-year-old might not have the sheer numbers of a certain Harry Kane, but his creativity and technical ability have helped Bayern Munich, many a time, this campaign. The German playmaker has made over 150+ appearances for the Bavarian side and with a contract expiring in 2026, there have been rumours of a move to Manchester City. Now the crucial question is: Would Musiala fit in well with the English champions? Well, his latest comments would have certainly delighted Pep Guardiola.
In a recent interview with Marca, Jamal Musiala spoke about his preferred position on the soccer pitch. The playmaker said, “Definitely, as number ten or more on the left wing. Those are the two positions where I feel pretty good. As a number ten, I have more of a view of the game, something I always liked to turn around or go straight to the goal.” However, the Bayern Munich star is also capable of influencing the game from other positions.
Musiala added, “I have also played in other midfield positions, as an interior, or on the right-wing. The lesson is that you take something from each position and it helps you build your game in general as you grow in football.” This versatility could be quite appealing for Manchester City. Recent reports indicated that Musiala is the priority signing at Etihad this summer. His creativity and technical ability match the mold of a Pep Guardiola player. However, the links to the Bayern Munich midfielder could mean the end for a Manchester City legend.

The Belgian playmaker has been unstoppable since his arrival at Manchester City but injuries finally seem to be getting the better of him. This season, De Bruyne has missed nearly 5 months of action due to a groin injury. Also, there have been links to Saudi Arabia. Turning 33 in 2 months, KDB is no spring chicken and Jamal Musiala could be the chosen one. Last season, the Belgian scored 10 goals and set up 31 assists. Musiala, on the other hand, had 16 goals and as many assists. Considering his age, Musiala had all the ingredients to replace the Belgian wizard.
KDB’s contract expires in 2025, and the signing of Musiala this summer, means he could be deployed in the left flank. After all, this is a position he admittedly enjoys. At Manchester City, the current left-wing options are Jack Grealish and Jeremy Doku. The duo has yet to establish their presence in the team and this could be Musiala’s entry route into the English champions.
