Former Barcelona star Dani Alves will undergo trial after being indicted in an assault case last year. The concerned authorities took Dani Alves into custody last year, and he has been behind bars for over 298 days. While Alves has not pleaded guilty, the court has found comprehensive evidence against the player for him to stand trial.

According to his lawyers, Dani Alves remains unhappy with how the narrative has been twisted to frame him. Furthermore, the player has claimed that he did not assault the accuser, and whatever happened between the two was on mutual consent. The prosecution has submitted their charges against the player, with the trial expected to take place in April 2024.

Alves found himself in the headlines after they accused him of an assault last year. After that, the officials arrested the Brazilian on the 20th of January and put him behind bars in Barcelona. The player is set to undergo trial in the same case, with the court finding sustainable evidence against the player.

According to Relevo, the statement given goes,  “The National Court sends Dani Alves to trial for sexual assault. He is accused of rapping a young woman in the booth of a Barcelona nightclub last December.” Alves reportedly was okay with the trial and decided to go ahead with his defense of him. Nevertheless, the situation remains complicated for the former Barcelona man.

Alves’ former wife, Dinorah Santana, has been a keen figure in the player’s defense. However, Santana has decided to wash her hands with the player. She stated that she did not want to do anything related to the former Barcelona star.

 

Ex-wife cuts ties with former Barcelona star

Brazilian legend Dani Alves has received a massive setback in his assault case. Alves’s ex-wife, Dinorah Santana, has cut all ties with the player. In a recent interview, Santana slammed Alves and said the player no longer exists for her.

Santana stated, “He doesn’t exist for me. He’s dead. I’ve always kept my head down. I’ve never caused any controversy, I’ve never made any scandals. I want him to disappear from my life. I don’t know what he’s capable of. Why am I defending him? “Why do I show my face to him?”

Furthermore, his current wife, Joana Sanz, also prepares to cut ties with the player. Alves will stand trial, with the date likely to be revealed soon. If they find the player guilty, they can convict him behind bars for six to twelve years.
