The majority of the soccer world is currently embracing the Christmas spirit. It is that time of year when everyone enjoys themselves and spends time with their family. But the same cannot be said for ex-Brazil defender Dani Alves, who is imprisoned, and his wife Joana Sanz, who is alone at home. Amidst the festive cheer, the absence of the ex-Barcelona star has shed tears from his wife’s eyes, who opened up on ‘the feeling of inner emptiness.’

It has been a year since Alves went to jail for his alleged assault on a woman at a nightclub in Barcelona. That incident has forced the former player and his family to celebrate holidays alone.

Just moments ago, Joana Sanz shared a story on her Instagram where she posted her crying selfie. Aside from this, the Brazilian model also wrote a heavy-hearted caption in which she revealed how alone she feels on Christmas. As translated by DeepL, Sanz wrote, “Today my heart is so wounded that I don’t even know how to handle it. I am overwhelmed by the memories of the past year and the feeling of inner emptiness that burns me like ice. Maybe I’ll spend it in my pajamas crying or maybe I’ll self-destruct with tequila at some party. Don’t judge me, I’m finishing the year pretty much in one piece. Enjoy the family, they are not eternal.”

The cherished moments from the past that Sanz spent alongside Alves seem to have evoked nostalgia, leaving her in a state of tears. Either way, it’s sad that either of them is facing such adversity. Notably, the prisoners get to meet their families at festivals. However, it’s unlikely that Sanz and her kids would visit Alves at the prison, given that the model is on bad terms following her husband’s wrongdoings. In fact, Sanz is adamant about giving Alves a divorce, which, surprisingly, the former Catalan star is failing to do.
