2023 was quite hard on Manchester United. Yet, the Red Devils managed to curtain their volatile year by clinching an emphatic win in their final game of the year. Thanks to a brace from Alejandro Garnacho, the club beat Aston Villa 3-2. Amidst the positive vibes, a contrasting narrative has cast a shadow on Jadon Sancho, attracting the wrath of critics who claim the winger ‘doesn’t even want to help out‘.

The Argentine’s clinical performance became an agenda in the latest episode of ESPN. Revered pundit Craig Burley took a dig at Sancho, insisting the England international is not apologizing for his wrongdoing and is rather ‘twiddling his thumb‘. The winger is ‘wasting his career’ while watching one of his young teammates carry the team and help the under-pressure manager, Erik ten Hag. Burley claimed that Alejandro Garnacho isn’t even the most talented or experienced, yet he is outshining the likes of Antony, Rashford, and Jadon Sancho.

“If I were a professional, I wouldn’t be sitting at home happy about that. I’d be sitting at home embarrassed with myself that I’m sitting watching a kid do what he’s done.” The commentator also claimed that Alejandro Garnacho may not deliver in all matches, but he doing more than Sancho. “The other side of the coin we got the petted lip sat at home, and doesn’t even want to help out. There’s a difference between people who want to get out there and make a difference,” Burley concluded.

Indeed, those are some bold claims from the former Chelsea star, which certainly won’t please Jadon Sancho. Notably, the winger hasn’t played since making a substitute appearance against Nottingham Forest in August, following a public disagreement with his manager. In fact, it has even forced the England international to consider returning to where he rose to fame.

Jadon Sancho has been completely excluded from the first-team affairs. Hence, with the January transfer window approaching, it seems increasingly probable that he will part ways with the Red Devils. Recent reports suggest Sancho’s desire to reunite with his former team, Borussia Dortmund. Additionally, the German club is also keeping an eye on his situation.

If the current circumstances persist, a return to Signal Iduna Park might materialize as early as next month. Such a decision could be in the best interest of the young forward. His relationship with ten Hag remains strained, and the coach’s insistence on withholding playing time until an apology is made only worsens the situation.
