Like any sport, the world of soccer is not entirely kind. A sparkling future can run away from a player’s hands within a few months. And Jadon Sancho finds himself in this precarious spot, having been dropped by the Manchester United management. After all the uncertainty, the only place that seems favorable is his old club, Borussia Dortmund. But, a loan move back to the Signal Iduna Park may not come easy.

Sancho’s last professional starting eleven appearance came over four months ago, yet Erik ten Hag seems unmoved by Manchester United’s struggles to ask for a helping hand. With the player iced out, will Borussia Dortmund provide a lifeline to one of their former prodigies in this moment of crisis?

Sancho had glowing aspirations for his time at Old Trafford, after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s United spent close to a $100 million on the winger. But the player, after an underwhelming spell and a tussle with now manager ten Hag, is said to be heading back to where he came from. Dortmund, however, has given this thought a pause.

According to Sky Sports, Sancho is not yet present for the talks and is increasingly concerned about his future. Rumors aside, there has not been any agreement between the player and the two clubs. Speaking on this, journalist Patrick Berger said, “The way he’s living and the way he wants to act and perform… It’s a bit different in the last month. He sees his career also in danger.”

Berger also reports that all arrangements for the transfer have been made, including the medical tests, but there seems to be no further update. The deal between the two clubs is not progressing as smoothly as expected due to communication issues.

Additionally, Manchester United refused the German club’s request to include a buy option after the current loan deal expires. Dortmund, which currently lacks an efficient attack, is placed sixth in the Bundesliga and is desperate to acquire the sidelined player. For United, however, this situation is all too familiar. It is the story of yet another young prospect who came to the club and failed to make a mark.

Sancho failed to fire at United before being sidelined

A different Jadon Sancho arrived at United after his initial move from Germany. The player had 114 goal contributions in just 137 games for Dortmund. However, after reaching United, Sancho could only net 12 goals in 82 appearances with six assists. To add to his woes, there was friction between ten Hag and the player, primarily focusing on the Englishman’s discipline.

The player’s late arrivals for training annoyed the manager, triggering him to push Sancho out of the squad. Since then, there has been no comeback. With the player hoping for a revival, despite enthusiasm from Dortmund, the deal between the two clubs seems far from being finalized.
