It was a well-balanced tie at the end of the first leg at Camp Nou, with both teams playing out a 2-2 draw. With the away goal rule scrapped, both teams knew a win will put them into the round of 16. Barcelona started the game on the front foot when Robert Lewandowski scored from the spot within 15 minutes.
United made a comeback in the second half with two Brazilians on the score sheet. Fred and Antony gave them a lead, and the Red Devils held on to progress. Barcelona fans came out disappointed at the end of the game, and when Pique shared his disappointment, they reminded him of the reason the club was competing in the Europa League.
Fans react, blaming Gerard Pique for Barcelona playing in second-tier European competition
One of the Twitter handles posted a message about Gerard Pique after Barcelona lost to the United. Pique said, “I was watching the match. What a f**king ruin.” Disappointed Barcelona fans took to Twitter and trolled the former Spanish defender for his role in sending Barcelona to the Europa League.
“It’s your fault, Pique, that Messi left. It’s also your fault that you chocked against mediocre Liverpool & Roma then sent Barca to the Europa league,” one fan wrote. Other fans followed the suit, some of them hilarious, reminding the soccer star of his mistake against Inter that resulted in the loss.
It’s your fault Pique that Messi left it’s also your fault that you chocked against mediocre Liverpool & Roma then sent Barca to the Europa league plus you scammed the club when you were past your prime! Only Puyol had more dignity than you bc he’s realistic & isn’t a scammer

Ironic that these words are coming from him. The very one core of the humiliations we had in Roma, Pool and Istanbul. So brotha.. don't talk about ruins..

The defeat against United means leaves Barcelona with two chances to win the silverware this season. They currently lead by eight points in La Liga against arch-rivals Real Madrid and are well on track to win the league. They will play a two-legged semifinal against Los Blancos in the Copa del Rey and will hope for a better result there.
Why did fans blame Pique?

In October 2022, FC Barcelona played two crucial back-to-back games against Inter Milan in Group C. It was one of the toughest groups of this season’s UEFA Champions League, with German giants FC Bayern Munich also in the mix. The games against Inter were crucial, but the Catalonian team managed to get just one point against them after losing one and drawing the second.
The mistake of Pique sparked the comeback of Inter at Camp Nou as they scored thrice in the second half to get a draw from the game. As a result, FC Barcelona finished third in the group, relegating to the Europa League. Fans reminded him of his mistake on Thursday when United knocked out Barcelona.
