Inter Miami returned to MLS action today, facing Chicago. As expected, the Herons’ star player, Lionel Messi, was absent from the squad due to his injury. Unfortunately, in his absence, David Beckham‘s soccer franchise suffered a humiliating 4-1 loss. This defeat has cast doubt on their playoff qualification, and fans have taken to the internet to react to the result.
Since Lionel Messi left the pitch during the game against Toronto, Miami hasn’t won a single match. The Florida-based club continues to face worrisome times, and they may be compelled to abandon their playoff aspirations.

Both teams started their first half in high spirits, but neither side could find a goal, which resulted in the first 45 minutes ending in a stalemate. However, the second half had some entertainment in store for the fans as Chicago finally broke the deadlock in the 49th minute with the help of former Liverpool star Xherdan Shaqiri.
Fortunately, Inter Miami was awarded a penalty just four minutes later, which Josef Martinez converted brilliantly. Unfortunately, the penalty served as a consolation, as Chicago Fire doubled their lead ten minutes later through Maren Haile-Selassie. Three minutes after that, in the 65th minute, Haile-Selassie completed a brace, extending Chicago’s lead. The goals didn’t stop for the home side as Shaqiri also secured a couple of goals. The referee’s final whistle spared Miami from further humiliation as the match ended 4-1.
Fans gave their reaction on X following Miami’s humiliating result.
