Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola addressed the media following his team’s big win over Luton Town. City, who failed to win in their last four games, bagged a victory in their fifth fixture. During his press conference, the Spaniard opened up on the injuries to Erling Haaland and Jeremy Doku.
Regarding Haaland’s injury, Guardiola stated that while the player might miss the next game, he could be back before the clash against Crystal Palace. “It’s not a fracture, just a stress on the bone; hopefully, (he) can be ready against Crystal Palace, if not then Saudi Arabia.”
He added, “The day after Villa, he could almost not walk properly yesterday I spoke to him saying, ‘I feel much better, I can walk, I have no pain,’ that’s why we have to see how he is day by day.”

The manager also provided a positive update on Jeremy Doku’s injury, stating, “It’s muscular; it’s not a big, big issue like Kevin’s, but we have to think about his explosivity and be careful. Maybe one week, two weeks, he’ll be ready again.”

Manchester City will hope that the two players make an early return to the side. Haaland has been the key scorer for Manchester City scoring 13 goals this season. However, the side proved that they are not reliant on the striker as the side bagged a 2-1 win over Luton after going down 1-0 in the first half.

City, following their second goal, took a defensive approach as they slowed down the game’s pace while maintaining the possession to bag the win.

With the win, Manchester City now has 33 points to its name in 16 games and are just 4 points behind Liverpool who are at the top of the Premier League standings.
