22 April 2023 will go down in Wrexham AFC‘s history for sure. It’s the day the team won the National League and earned a promotion to EFL League Two, the fourth tier of the English Soccer League system. The promotion was a long-time coming for Wrexham, who had been stuck in the fifth division since 2008.
The momentum started shifting pace in 2020 when Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took over the Welsh soccer club as owners. After a strong season, the Welsh club finally broke the deadlock and won the league. Now, former Wrexham manager Dean Saunders revealed his confidence in the team. He asserted that the Red Dragons could go on to win back-to-back promotions up to EFL Championship.

Ryan Reynolds’ team predicted to continue their winning ways
Saunders recently sat down with talkSPORT to discuss Wrexham’s promotion to League Two. Talking about the Welsh side’s chances of claiming the League Two title, the former Wales international expressed confidence in their ability to dominate the competition.
“I think they will win League Two. I think it’s easier to win League Two than the National League,” he said. He supported his claim by explaining that promotion is more difficult in the National League because only one team is promoted as compared to the higher leagues. He further added claiming of not being much of a difference between the “standard of the players” and saying how “Wrexham players have all played higher up”.

Saunders didn’t stop his predictions at the League Two title. He even suggested the Dragons bagging three consecutive promotions. “They might even win League One,” Saunders added. “I think they’re on a roll now”. The Welsh legend attributed much of the club’s success and ambition to their passionate owners who are determined to take the club as high up the leagues as possible. “I think the owners are determined to get the club up the leagues,” Saunders elaborated. This feeling was recently highlighted by Ryan Reynolds during an interview.
