Soccer as a sport has a very diverse fanbase across the globe. While the game is likely to be known as football, some countries do call it soccer. However, there’s never been a real issue about it unless someone sticks up the word ‘soccer’ right up someone’s face. Recently, Ryan Reynolds posted a tweet online that grabbed quite the attention. The Canadian-American actor is known to have a very ‘witty’ nature.

While the Deadpool star is now deeply linked to the game of soccer, a blooper video that was released last year did prove that some people are just not used to calling the game football.
What did Ryan Reynolds tweet?
Recently the official Twitter account of Wrexham A.F.C. posted a tweet reminding its fans about their soccer fixture on Boxing Day. However, the co-owner of Wrexham seemed in quite a jolly mood. The Deadpool star felt the need to reiterate a few facts from the past.
*it’s actually called, Boxing Day. And football. It’s called football.
— Ryan Reynolds (@VancityReynolds) December 23, 2022
He first commented on that post that the Boxing Day fixture was going to be a great watch, which was normal. A few hours later he re-commented, saying, “*it’s actually called, Boxing Day. And football. It’s called football”.
However, this was not the first time Reynolds was faced with this problem. This particular tweet was a call-back from earlier this year. The tweet that Reynolds posted about football being called football was a reiteration from a few months ago. 1Password, a password management software, was shooting an ad with Ryan Reynolds and his club.
What were these bloopers about?
The advert, when released, came out great, but it was the bloopers that went viral. The scene was of a dressing room shot. Reynolds was having a team talk with the players of Wrexham A.F.C. He started off by saying, “Guys, we’re a professional soccer club”. However, he then immediately realized that the rest of the world calls it football.
He then said, “I’m going to get stabbed for that,” while the crew could be heard laughing.
Reynolds then had a face-to-face shot with Wrexham’s striker Paul Mullin. Reynolds yelled, “Mullin” and then immediately got into the athlete’s face.
There were then a series of shots in which the Deadpool star was trying to get Mullin to laugh. Reynolds said, “I will shove a red card so far up your a** they will hold a funeral for my hand.” In the next shot, he said, “I will shove a red card so far up your a** people will think it’s your tongue.”

Reynolds then continued to do these one-liners a few more times. And the last one finally made Mullin laugh. He said, “I will shove a red card so far up your a** you will be legally reclassified as a puppet”.
These were all a bunch of bloopers. However, it was heart-warming to see the owner of a soccer club being directly involved with the players. While Wrexham A.F.C. is a smaller club, fans of bigger soccer clubs barely get to hear anything from their owners because there’s such a long hierarchy in place.
