After 15 years of absence from the Football League, Wrexham AFC has made it to League Two. They won the Vanarama National League title and grabbed the automatic promotion spot. The UK Prime Minister lauded the ownership, players, and all involved with the club for achieving the promotion.

Ryan Reynolds took over the club in February 2021 by investing $2.5 million. After taking over the club, the Hollywood duo invested heavily in the club. There were new signings, including Paul Mullin. To gain popularity, the owners also invested in a docuseries, Welcome To Wrexham. And their early investment finally paid off after the club achieved promotion to League Two.
UK Prime Minister lauds Wrexham and its owners
Wrexham’s MP Sarah Atherton raised the topic of the Red Dragon’s success on Wednesday during the House of Commons. Atherton said, “After a 15-year break, Wrexham Association Football Club is back in the English Football League.” She urged Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to congratulate loyal supporters, owners, and everyone at the club. She labeled Wrexham ‘jewel in the crown of the UK.’
Rishi Sunak replied, “Can I join my honorable friend in congratulating everyone at Wrexham, from the owners to the players to the supporters and everyone in the community. It’s been an incredible ride, we’ve all enjoyed watching them. We wish them every future success. I join with her in saying they are indeed a jewel in the crown, and she deserves enormous credit for championing them in this place.”

The Hollywood story of the club started on February 9, 2021. After a few torrid seasons, the club started to make inroads to the top of the league. Last season it finished second. However, the defeat to Grimsby Town in the playoff semifinal crashed their promotion hopes.
Then came the 2022-23 season. The Red Dragons achieved their dream last week after beating Boreham Wood and clinching the title with the automatic promotion spot.

Reynolds and McElhenney took over the fifth-tier club intending to make it a force to reckon with. They have taken the first step. The promotion to the Football League after 15 years is an incredible achievement.
The duo made enormous efforts to bring the club and the community to the world stage. Promotion to EFL League Two will inspire them to invest further.
