Two games, one defeat, one draw – Is Wrexham slipping under the League Two pressure? Setback after setback, Wrexham’s initial League Two run is not going according to plan with the loss of their talisman, Paul Mullin, to injuries sustained during a pre-season friendly match against Manchester United.
The Red Dragons are yet to secure their first victory in League Two, having lost their opening match 3-5 to MK Dons and conceding a late penalty against AFC Wimbledon, resulting in a draw. The Welsh club is now preparing to face Walsall at home. Walsall manager Mat Sadler has already taken a jab at Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham referring to it as “just another game.”

Mat Sadler’s Walsall secured their first victory of the season against Stockport County in their most recent match with a 2-1 win thanks to goals from Danny Johnson and Aramide Oteh. Sadler praised the home support and urged fans to come out and support them in their upcoming away game at the Racecourse Ground.
“It’s not lost on me the support that we’re going to be taking there, another incredible turnout. I’ve got a group that is desperate to give them something to go home with so we’ll dust ourselves down, reflect, and look to go again,” said Sadler.
The Saddlers will be backed by 1100 supporters at Stok Cae Ras. Walsall aims to perform well, having already faced two defeats early in the season, including one against Blackburn Rovers in the EFL Cup.
However, their confidence remains intact, showing no signs of relief to their opponents. The Walsall manager took a dig at Reynolds’ Wrexham stating, “For me, it’s another game against another League Two team and I think that’s exactly the same way Wrexham will set themselves up.”

Wrexham Manager Phil Parkinson recently revealed that the reports from a recent visit to a specialist showed good progress for Paul Mullin. Nevertheless, it will still take time for Mullin to fully recover and reintegrate into the first-team squad.
Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham would meanwhile need a striker who can compete at the League Two level. There is stiff competition as clubs don’t want to lose their stars and prefer selling players rather than letting them go on season-long loans.
Due to the substantial waiting period, Wrexham is actively exploring other striking options. Who do you believe Wrexham should consider signing as a temporary replacement for Paul Mullin?
