Hey! Wrexham AFC fans, are you excited to watch your team take the field in EFL League Two for the first time in 15 years? The moment is less than a month away, and the team’s preparations are underway. However, before starting the new season on August 5, the Reds will head to the US for crucial games.

It won’t be a regular preseason for the Wrexham players. The Red Dragons will play heavyweights in the US before returning to Wales. And the club’s boss knows it well. Phil Parkinson is working on a particular plan ahead of the US tour. But what is he doing differently?

Parkinson welcomed back the players recently for the preseason preparations. He was a happy boss to see everyone in great shape. It was a long vacation for the players as they automatically qualified for League Two by winning the Vanarama National League. Moreover, the players spent several days in Las Vegas for the grand party thrown by the owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

Phil Parkinson and his players were back to business immediately. “Obviously, it’s a different preseason because of the lengths of the break and the games we’ve got over there (US), so we’ve adapted our preseason program leading into that slightly,” Parkinson said, speaking to the club’s official website. Wrexham will play two friendlies behind closed doors as a part of the plan.

“The reasons for that are just that we want to control the minutes of every single player, so we make sure that we go to America in the best possible shape,” the Reds boss said about the two friendlies. Parkinson feels the profile of the games will be different as they could see a significant amount of attendance in the US. The boss feels the club is well received in the US thanks to the famous Welcome To Wrexham docuseries.

What happened last when the Red Dragons played Manchester United and Chelsea?

The last competitive game between Wrexham and Manchester United took place on January 28, 1995. It was a forgettable game for the world’s third-oldest soccer club. United thrashed Wrexham 5-2 in the FA Cup fourth round. It was a United team with the famous Class of 92 that gave no chance to the Welsh club.
