After Gerard Pique quit his soccer career, the Barcelona legend completely shifted his focus to business ventures. One of his most successful and popular ventures is the Kings League. The innovative soccer league is a 7-a-side football tournament with unconventional rules not adhering to traditional soccer.

The league has 12 teams with 10 players in each. All teams are based in Spanish localities. And so, deciding the venue for the League finale is a truly peculiar task. Gerard Pique, however, seems to have already made his mind on the venue for the upcoming finale. Surprisingly, it is neither Barcelona nor Madrid – the most obvious options.

In a recent chat with Twitch streamer Ibai Llanos, the former Barcelona defender was quipped about his dream location to host King’s League final. Surprisingly, the ex-soccer player revealed the location to be Zaragoza. “We could put it Zaragoza, which I was there and I like it. It is a city that I appreciate very much,” said the former footballer.

While it was surprising to hear Zaragoza initially, things make much more sense when you recall Pique’s stint at Real Zaragoza. When Gerard was 19 years old, he started his top-flight career at Zaragoza’s local club. However, this is not the only reason behind choosing Zaragoza. There is a fun element to the choice as well.

In addition to the nostalgia factor, the former Manchester United player also revealed that the tentative date of the finals coincides with Las Fiestas del Pilar. The native festival is a fun party-themed celebration in honor of the patron saint of the city, the Virgen del Pilar. Due to the fun vibe of the city at that time, Zaragoza becomes more attractive to Pique.

“In addition, October 14 falls in Las Fiestas del Pilar, which is a barbarity,” said the ex-soccer star. “Everything that involves a drink and music drives me crazy. And the Pillars are that. I played there and I have a special affection for Zaragoza for that,” stressed a sincere Piqué.

With Piqué’s approval, the Aragonese capital stands as one of the favorites to host the league final. Bilbao, Málaga, and Valencia are also in contention. Among the options considered for Zaragoza, organizers aim for candidates to be spread nationwide. This approach ensures engagement from spectators and followers in the voting process.
