The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup has officially concluded with Spain being crowned as the world champions. Despite the prestigious tournament getting completed, the critique isn’t stopping for the USWNT. Just days ago, former president Donald Trump fired some words for Megan Rapinoe. Now, a USMNT legend is criticizing his country’s women’s soccer team.
The tables seem to have turned for the USWNT ever since their brutal exit from the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Even after getting tagged as the favorite to lift the prestigious trophy, the 4X world champions left a poor mark in the tournament.

After their shock defeat in the round of 16 at the hands of Sweden, the USWNT continued to receive massive criticism. The USWNT’s performance in the cup has left a butter taste in the American fan’s mouths. While they are already getting slandered for their poor World Cup run, USMNT legend, Alexi Lalas, has now jumped on the bandwagon.
Earlier, skipper Lindsey Horan vocally spoke out on managerial issues on a talk show. She also insisted that the young ladies weren’t ready for the tournament. This caught Lalas’ attention, who couldn’t hold his words. He retweeted by saying, “The coach’s job is obviously to help prepare the players. But this #USWNT was given more resources and support than any other US team in history. Ultimately, it was the wrong collection of players and they weren’t good enough. But I’d like to know what Horan thought was missing.”

While insisting that this year’s roster had the wrong group of players, Lalas believes the ladies had everything at their disposal to add the fifth trophy. Subsequently, he asked Horan what she would have fancied during the tournament. Be that as it may, these were quite bold words from the American soccer legend.
Certainly, Lalas’ words add salt to the wounds which haven’t even healed. His words must have pierced their heart with a knife, especially for Megan Rapinoe, who received harsh criticism from Donald Trump.

Megan Rapinoe gets slandered by Donald Trump
Following the USWNT’s elimination from the World Cup, Rapinoe faced unexpected criticism from former President Donald Trump. He characterized his country’s departure from the tournament as ‘shocking and totally unexpected’. Trump also quickly slipped in a subtle comment aimed at the current US President.
In reference to Rapinoe’s significant penalty miss against Sweden, he penned, “Nice shot Megan, the USA is going to Hell!!! MAGA.” Clearly, the outcome of this World Cup journey cast a shadow over the United States. At this point, the entire team is likely engaged in introspection concerning their disappointing World Cup exit.
