Mohamed Salah has been the biggest thorn in Manchester City’s flesh. But Bernardo Silva found a way to mark his presence over the African star. In a recent interview with Abola, Silva claimed that his body feint against the Egyptian was an act of revenge for what Salah did earlier to him. When asked, “Was it revenge, then?” Bernardo replied, “It was revenge!” Earlier, he also stated, “It was in return for one he did to me a year ago, when he put me down. I still had that in the back of my mind”. The incident happened in November, during Liverpool’s visit to Etihad for their Premier League encounter. Silva, outside his defensive area, beat him with a lovely disguise on his strong left side, leaving fans amused and the clip went viral.
The battle between the two teams, however, ended in a draw on that occasion. Trent Alexander-Arnold’s brilliant late-stage strike revived the Reds to come back from a 1-0 deficit. Silva mentioned the fact that he had Mohamed Salah on his mind while pulling the stunt off. Silva claimed that he was outdone by the 31-year-old last year. Salah was the main reason for Liverpool’s resilience against City, giving them a tough fight in the last few years by finishing three times in the top two in five seasons. Coming into this season, Liverpool have been a force to reckon with.
