During a chat with the YouTube channel Men in Blazers, Wrexham goalkeeper Ben Foster talked about his early days as a player. Foster described how he started off as a worker in a cafe, and then transitioning to a professional player made him realize the worth of the work he did.

“It was not only high pressure, it was pure hard work. I remember there was a time when me and a couple of mates got a job at a cafe shop. I apologize if you ever came into the cafe in the early 2000s. It was in shambles. However, we did work very, very hard. It was long hours and sweaty hours.”

“At that time, we were doing 55 hours a week and then I started playing football. I remember when I actually started playing pro, doing just one training session and going back home by 2 in the afternoon, being like oh man, that was a noodle. I was like, this is wicked, and man, they are paying me as well. So I think I’ve always been thankful for football.”

Ben Foster has been a big reason behind Wrexham’s recent success. The veteran goalkeeper played a crucial role in the team’s promotion to League Two and will now once again look to give it his all as Wrexham eyes consecutive promotions.
