The 36-year-old maestro made a rough foul on Wilder Cartagena by shoving him in order to regain possession in the first half, which earned him a yellow card. Messi also brutally challenged Cesar Araujo as he pushed through the Orlando City defensive half, which went unpunished by the referee.

Meanwhile, the Uruguayan midfielder chased down the world champion and made a late tackle from behind later in the game. After the first half, La Pulga and Araujo had a heated argument in the tunnel while returning to the dressing room when their teammates intervened to separate them before the situation escalated. Inter Miami won the match 3-1 with Messi scored two goals to secure three consecutive wins in the Leagues Cup.
