The 35-year-old also collected the World Team of the Year award on behalf of the Argentina men’s football team. La Albiceleste won the award for their remarkable triumph in Qatar. He became the first sportsman to win both the World Sportsman of the Year Award and the World Team of the Year Award in the same year.
On the other hand, Sprint champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce won the women’s award. Furthermore, Christian Erikson won the Laureus World Comeback of the Year Award.
