Cristiano Ronaldo lost his father when he was just 20. His sister Elma Aveiro recently took to social media, sharing a special tribute for their late father. Ronaldo, too, on numerous occasions has spoken about the immense impact his father had on his growth.
In one of his interviews, the 5x Ballon d’Or winner touched on the pain of losing both his father and his newborn son. Elma, throughout her message, expressed how she misses their father, with him taking a part of her soul, when he passed away at 51.

Elma Aveiro took to Instagram, as she penned an emotional tribute for her late father, “DAD, you left and took part of me, I swear I try every day to be happy, you left the best thing that keeps me going, for you and for her I was to stay and be happy .. 18 years have passed, have you seen what a beautiful girl you have become, as good as you, human, beautiful, special and my partner as you were,” said Aveiro.
While talking about the pain she felt, she said “I know you’re fine but to this day it hurts a lot, it’s only being close to you one day that I start Pain inside, I love you Dad and I miss you so much.”

The Los Blancos icon, too, has spoken of the impact his father’s death had on his career. Ronaldo, who was just 20 when his father passed away due to alcoholism, was a part of the Portuguese national side during the incident. The player, however, refused to travel back home and instead took the field for the team on the upcoming day.
While Cristiano Ronaldo has been doing great this season, the star had a slow season both on and off the field, a couple of years ago, when he lost his son.

During an interview, Ronaldo talked about how the passing away of both his father and his son changed him as a person. “His [late son’s] ashes are with me, like my Daddy. They are here in the house — they are next to my dad. I have a small church downstairs and a chapel, and I keep my daddy and my son there,” said Ronaldo.

I talk with them all the time and they are on my side. You know they help me to be a better man, to be a better person, to be a better father,” he added.
