The way Wrexham earned a promotion to the EFL League Two is a story for ages. They completely dominated the league from start to finish as Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney lived their dream. Hence, the work is just getting started for the soccer club. The quality of gameplay is much higher in the higher leagues.
To tackle that, one must need high-quality players. Whenever a club receives a promotion, the owners break the bank to add depth to the squad. However, manager Phil Parkinson wants no “major surgery” on the team this season.
The club received a $21 million financial boost to improve the club. Heading to the higher leagues after 15 years, they claimed 111 points in a stunning season. Hence, it is one of the best seasons in recent history, but Parkinson wants to manage his squad well.

Phil Parkinson wants no major changes with the Wrexham squad
One thing familiar with squads that go up is how they invest heavily by making wholesale changes to the team. Yet, the team chemistry changes, and the squad’s togetherness won’t materialize. Therefore, Parkinson explained how he wants to keep the team intact.
According to the Leader, Parkinson discussed, “That is what we have tried to do and now we have put a squad in place which has got us promoted, it doesn’t need major surgery to push on again. I feel we have got a lot of players who will be ready for next season which is good from our point of view.”
But surely, the squad needs improvement. Contract extensions and terminations are happening at the club as the manager wants to keep a fresh team for the next season. He also mentioned how he would welcome quality players to the squad to give them a chance to get back-to-back promotions.
Decision-making is a crucial process according to Parkinson, and he wants to add the right players. Thus, Ryan and Rob would be happy to lose their strings after receiving a cash injection from the Welsh government.

Transfer Kitty is quite huge for the club
As a result of expanding their stadium, the club received funding that would be helpful to the squad. For the club, the owners would want to keep their high-flying players as well. Paul Mullin is one of the best goalscorers in the league, and keeping him intact would be a priority. Therefore, it is important to stitch the squad tightly and build it around the players Parkinson already has.
Fun times have been plenty for Wrexham in recent times. Slowly and steadily, the dream of getting into the Premier League is becoming a reality. It will be a long road, but the club is certainly on the right path to success.
