Did Pep Guardiola's last-minute decision risk Savinho's career? What was he thinking?

Manchester City have once again shown their prowess in hiring the best talent. The club may have gone with very few transfers this summer window, but they’ve got one gem of a player through the Brazilian Savinho. The 20-year-old is cruising with confidence and has become a regular part of Pep Guardiola’s set-up. But, after playing the whole 90 minutes he was substituted in the 2nd minute of the stoppage for Matheus Nunes. However, it looked a bit more serious drawing concerns from the supporters.

It appeared that the English champions received a blow heading into an accelerated phase of the season. Savinho was seen holding his left hamstring in pain with a painful expression before being substituted. Not much is known about the severity of the issue, but more news about the youngster’s situation could come up from the City camp if it’s an injury. Nevertheless, Pep did not bring up the matter after the game.

Currently, Guardiola seems to be using him at the right and it’s already working. The São Mateus-born hasn’t scored yet. But Savinho has already featured in the Community Shield final which City won scoring his penalty shot. He also registered two assists until now but his skills and temperament are the things to watch out for. Therefore, he is expected to be a great asset for the Sky Blues this season.
