On Wednesday, Ethan Mbappe, the younger brother of Kylian Mbappe, made his senior debut. While the 16-year-old received his first taste of senior soccer against Metz, questions are already being raised about his potential and whether he can live up to the immense success of his brother. However, it is clear that the teenager still has a long way to go, and his lack of consistency has become a topic of concern.

Luis Enrique brought on Ethan Mbappe as a substitute when PSG was already leading 3-1, courtesy of Kylian Mbappe’s impressive brace. Despite only receiving four minutes of playtime, it was undoubtedly a significant day for the young talent.

Following his senior debut, a German scout who has been closely monitoring Ethan’s progress was asked about his assessment. As reported by L’ÉQUIPE, the scout highlighted some key areas where the young player needs improvement. “He still has a way to go in terms of speed of execution in particular,” the scout said. “He still lacks consistency.”

Additionally, the scout identified a need for Ethan “to overcome a certain nonchalance and gain in intensity.” While the scout acknowledged, “For the time being, he’d be comfortable in a possession team,” he also expressed reservations about the young player’s ability to thrive at PSG.

He concluded, “As a Ligue 1 player, I have no problem projecting myself. As a PSG player, it still seems a little light to me.” As per the scout’s assessment, Ethan Mbappe has multiple weak points.
