Earlier today, Lionel Messi & Co. grabbed a much-needed victory against LAFC with a stunning performance. While La Pulga didn’t make the headlines for his goalscoring today, he made news for all the wrong reasons. During the 90 minutes, the seven-time Ballon d’Or was surprisingly affected twice by the fans during his conduct. While the first was a pitch invader, the second was a more serious incident as the ex-Barca man had a bottle thrown at him.
Leo Messi is one of the nicest human beings in the soccer world. Throughout the match, in no way did Leo disrespect or rile up the away fans. Hence this shocking bottle incident naturally stunned everyone in the stadium. His bodyguard Yassine Chueko in particular was upset.

After Lionel Messi capped off a 3-1 victory over LAFC with two assists; the soccer icon was escorted to the dressing room post his greeting session with the fans. As he was being taken through the hoard of media professionals and fans, someone from the stands threw a bottle of water at a rapid pace. The pace of the bottle was such that even his former US Navy SEAL-turned-bodyguard missed it. Luckily for Leo, it missed him by a slender margin. Chueko immediately covered Leo’s head post the incident and took him down the tunnel in safety.
Fans as expected were stunned and upset with this incident. Hence they took to social media to share their frustration. The first reaction of all soccer fans was singular – Make the MLS investigate the incident and punish the perpetrator.
They have to investigate this incident…such behaviour should not be tolerated from anyone

@MLS look into this please…

This should not go unpunished. Huge disrespect

Others meanwhile used this incident to justify Yassine Chueko’s constant hovering around the pitch which has been questioned by many of late.
Yet people have issue with him having a bodyguard

Y’all see the reason why the bodyguard is always with him

Meanwhile, the Herons fans blamed rival LAFC fans for this mishap.
LAFC fans do we expect anything less?

Typical LAFC fans, they throw water bottles, beer, at anybody.

Lastly, a fan suggested that maybe Messi deserves another bodyguard, considering this is the second dangerous incident of the day.
Infact two bodyguards won't be bad https://t.co/AVoZYpcv6s

Sadly, as mentioned above, this was not the first shocking incident of the day. Surprisingly, moments before the bottle incident, a fan had invaded the pitch in the middle of the match. Luckily for Leo; his bodyguard was at the sidelines and immediately put the pitch invader in a headlock as a measure of defense.

During the game against LAFC, a pitch invader attempted to approach Messi in the middle of the stadium. Luckily for La Pulga, his ex-Navy SEAL turned bodyguard was right beside the pitch monitoring the proceedings. As soon as the fan invaded, Chueko ran from the pitch-side to the middle of the pitch and seized the invader in a headlock.
While nothing negative happened to Leo, fans, and officials need to be careful of Messi’s protection. La Pulga has single-handedly changed the landscape of the soccer culture in America. He is the key to MLS’s rapid growth so far and his absence will be sorely felt in the coming days when he leaves for Argentina’s World Cup Qualifiers against Bolivia and Ecuador.
