Fans mourned along with Messi, after the announcement of his departure from Barcelona. Even though Messi wanted to stay at any cost, the Catalonian club could not balance the books. Now, after convincing Messi to play for his team in Miami, the CEO of Inter Miami Jorge Mas revealed a promise of Messi’s farewell with Barcelona.

Mas said, “I gave Messi my word that I will do everything possible in the coming years so that he has the opportunity to say goodbye to his fans in Barcelona.”

Jorge Mas promised Messi so that his fans could also have a final send-off for their favorite hero. The departure in 2021 came amid much chaos with all kinds of rumors of continuing. After some intense conversations with Messi’s father, Joan Laporta, the FC Barcelona’s president, had to deny a contract renewal.

Jorge Mas, also keeping this in mind, seemed to offer Messi the opportunity to say goodbye satisfyingly. After Messi’s departure, Barcelona has changed a few things. Apart from the players and partnerships, the club is revamping its home fortress. Camp Nou is being renovated to upgrade the facilities and infrastructure. The project is estimated to cost $1.6 billion in partnership with Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan.

Even though the complete stadium is said to be finished by 2026, it is expected to host soccer matches by the end of November 2024. Currently, Barcelona are currently using the Olympic stadium for their home matches. Lionel Messi will be ready for a homecoming once the stadium is in hosting condition, thanks to Jorge Mas.
