Lionel Messi has enjoyed a stellar career in the world of soccer. It has been a journey filled with glory and record-breaking moments. While the Argentinian superstar is still going strong at the age of 36, Inter Miami in the MLS always seemed like the last soccer club of his career. To everyone’s surprise, his own biographer has just revealed that he is ‘pretty sure’ the soccer legend would hang up his boots at Inter Miami.
If the decision had been in the hands of soccer fans, who wouldn’t want to see Messi play for eternity? However, good things must come to an end, and for Messi, his domestic voyage would conclude in America.

Just like the international one, the domestic journey for Lionel Messi has been nothing short of excellent. After enjoying a remarkable 17-year career with Barcelona, La Pulga did the unthinkable, joining another European side in the form of PSG. While those two years weren’t the most exciting, he eventually decided to take an unexpected leap in his career and play in the MLS.
While there’s more action anticipated from him, it seems to be Miami would be the last place. This shocking claim comes from the mouth of Messi’s own biographer, Guillem Balague, who recently sat down for a tête-à-tête on ‘The Debrief’ podcast, with other renowned journalists like Ben Jacobs, Angus Scott, and Fabrizio Romano.
In the latest episode, the biographer revealed, “Yes. I say that because now there’s a live sight to it. He needs to have his family comfortable and happy and he’ll do that. He would go back to Barcelona in some capacity but Inter Miami will be his last club, I’m pretty sure of that.”
Indeed, this is quite a big revelation from Balague himself. Certainly, this rules out all other prospects for his next destination. So then, what does Lionel Messi’s retirement plan look like? Well, hear it out from the man himself.

He said, “I don’t think I’ll be a coach, but I will certainly be involved in something related to football because it’s my entire life”. It seems that other than coaching, Messi is ready to take up any role related to the sport. Notably, Guillem Balague had earlier revealed that Messi may become an advisor or secretary at FC Barcelona. Nevertheless, for now, fans must enjoy his presence as a player until it lasts.
